Delays and release dates are the majority of this week’s recap. A delayed game will be better in the end, remember that.
Dead Space 3 Rumors Point to Co-op and Other Big Changes
IGN has caught wind of some interesting Dead Space 3 rumors. An optional, dynamic co-op story mode, a new ice planet, possible customization for the weapons, new enemies (with humans being a highlight), taking cover, crouching, and evasive rolls all being big key features that are new to the series. Sequels should always change up the pace and Dead Space 3 seems to be doing just that. As long as they don’t lose focus on the horror elements, I’m content with these changes. I hope they include some of my ideas.
Bioshock Infinite Delayed; Gamers Cry
Take Two has announced that Bioshock Infinite is no longer releasing on October 16, 2012 but now February 26, 2013. Creative Director Ken Levine gave the usual spiel of how this delay will make Infinite the game they wanted to release and a better product. He’s right because the delay with inevitably add some polish and give it that extra shine, but I have an idea about an underlying motive here. Take Two is also responsible for publishing Grand Theft Auto V, so if GTAV is really coming out this year, T2 probably needed to make room for it in its release schedule. They figured that Infinite was easily moveable and would give GTAV room to breathe if GTAV hits this fall. Of course this is all my personal theory (the game could have just needed more time), but it would better explain this delay.
Hitman: Absolution Release Date and Pre-Order Revealed
If you’ve been anxiously anticipating a release date on Hitman: Absolution, you’re in luck. It will available on November 20, 2012 and it has a unique pre-order bonus associated with players who pre-order it from Gamestop. The trailer below details the small game, but it boils down to a replayable sniper section within Hitman where you can always improve your score and unlock different equipment. The DLC seems like a neat way to give incentive to those on the fence, but it may hinge on whether or not you actually enjoy sniping people. The Sniper Challenge will be available exclusively for the people that pre-ordered on May 15th.
Surprise, Surprise Assassin’s Creed III has an Amazing Trailer
No words. Just watch the damn trailer.
Dishonored Hitting Stores this Fall
Boy, this one sure crept up on me. Dishonored is of course the game I am talking about and it will release on October 9, 2012. I thought this game was far off in the future, but the fact that it is so close has made me much more interested. A steady mix of Thief, Bioshock, Assassin’s Creed, and Deus Ex looks to make for a game that looks to hit on all fronts.
If you have anything to say, let me know!
